I ask becasue I ordered three salads for take out. The total was for $30.31 & I paid by credit card giving no tip on the receipt. I checked my bank account online a few hours later & see they charged my card $36.37. They never told me there was a fee for take out & i didnt see any signs posted. Anybody else know for sure?

most likely a pending transaction

most restaurants will pre-authorize a card for more than the purchase price in case a tip is added. I think this so that the CC company does not get called once to pre-authorize the charge and then again to pre-authorize the tip.

I think at the end of the day, each CC transaction is then finalized and the correct total should show up on your bill a few days later.

OP - miri's right. just wait a few days 'cause the total dollar amt charged to ur acct could change to the correct amt.

Cool, that actually makes sense then. I remember a previous restaurant charge that was higher than what I actually signed for. Ill wait a few days.

Oh yeah, Red Robin salads are big & yes they run around $9.50 a piece.
