Does RAID 0 creation format both disks?

I have one HD with a lot of information on it...and I want to make a RAID 0 array with this disk and another disk, which is empty. If I created the RAID 0 array, would it have to erase my HD with information? Thanks in advance.

You will lose your data. Back it up. Create your Raid array. Restore your data.

As bozo1 said, once you initialize the array(you have to), it'll whipe the data.....
