Does PSU fan count as exhaust fan?

Hey everyone

I have 4 case fans (18dBa) and Antec TruPower 430W, which has 2 fans inside. People say having equal amount of intake and exhaust fan will give the best airflow, so I was wondering if I should get rid of one of the rear fans because I thought the fan on the PSU might mess up the case air flow...

I've got the same power supply in my one system, and it doesn't seem to move a lot of air; either that, or else I just don't stress it enough to make the fans spin faster.

Find an opening in the PC somewhere, like maybe an open expansion slot port - stick your finger in your mouth, then put it across the opening in the PC. That'll tell you which way the air is trying to flow to equalize things out. If air is getting pulled in, you might be able to do without one of the PC's extra exhaust fans.

PSU fans count as exhaust, yes. in a lot of OEM machines, they are the ONLY exhaust....

yes they do. if your trying to get positive air pressure so your filters work, it def counts. if you want to equalize pressure for max flow efficiency.. yes too. two fans in series don't pump twice the air by the way. only better at achieving the potential of one fan with more static pressure to fight obstruction.

Don't remove your PSU fans. The air that goes out of my Antec Truepower 430 is really really hot. Leave 'em alone!

Oh I didn't mean disabling the PSU fan.

Should I disable one of the two rear case fans to equalize the air flow? Or should I just let it be?

No.. reduce voltage on both of the exhaust fans though, so you have positive pressure.
