I have a 7800gt amd 64 3200+ and 2gb of ram. When i play bf2 i get 30-40fps average. Everything is at high (4aa, high everything 4af and 1280*960 i think) Is this normal. My psu is a 500wat allied. This may sound weird but one day one of the wires started to burn and so i stop using that part. Is my vid card not recieving enough power. The wires that connect the vid card give are a little stripped. Should i buy a new psu. I dont get anylockups only low fps. Also when i oc my card to like 480/1.12 i dont see any differance which is kinda weird.

You shouldnt be playing the game with high everything in the first place. Try setting textures to medium which is recommended for 256mb cards high is for 512mb. Lighting is also a huge impact on game performance. Dynamic shadows and lighting should be both set to medium on your card. AA can be left at 4xaa and everything else i didnt mention to high. You will find that it is very difficult to tell the difference between medium and high settings. As a reference here are some tips/pics of various settings you should use- http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_5.html

Edit:By the way arent you happy with 30-40fps?

What are you talking about? 2 gigs of ram and a 7800gt should play those settings with ease. More video memory would be unlikely to help. I played BF2 at 16x12 with 4aa everything maxed fine on my 7800gtx with 1 gig. He should be able to have everything maxed out at 1280x960.

It's possible that your power supply is not providing enough power and consequently the card is being automatically downclocked.

The nVidia sentinel should be popping up if there's not enough power. Check your GPU clocks with a utility to see if it's running where it should be.

Everything is fine with the gpu clocks. What kind of fps should i get. I get around 40fps. I tried something and turned all teh settings down to low. I didnt turn off 4aa. I got around 90fps no more than a 100 in single player.
