Does popping blisters actually make them heal quicker?

I had a BEAST of a blister on my foot a few minutes ago (about 2" long and 1" wide)...

Lanced it with a hot pin and got the 'cup full of juices' out... Did i do good? Will it heal faster?

Yes, if you cover it with a band-aid, and keep your feet dry, lancing a blister helps immensely.

My blister on my left hand formed on Saturday. I popped it that night and it's now practically healed. It was fine even yesterday.

I don't know how long an untouched blister should take to "go away".

I don't think so.. I think they heal faster if you don't open them up.

If it's a really bad, deep blister.. it could be come infected, which will make it take longer..

It's best to pop it after a few days, or when the fluid is gone.. if you pop it at all. There will be new skin, and it won't be as tender.

I could be wrong though. :p

holy sh1t, that's a huge blister...

if you were backpacking, i'd reccommend super glue filling it, but since we're in civilized country, i'd reccommend keeping it clean, dry, and whatever, and dont let it get fluid filled again.

just make a SMALL hole to let the puss come out. But do KEEP the blister skin intact, covering the vulnerable healing skin underneath.

I haven't had a bad blister on my feet in a while..

But I would always prick the edge with a pin, to get rid of the bubble.. but leave the skin over it, since they're usually pretty tender. The bubble of skin will come off on it's own with time, and by then it will be healed.

I guess thinking about it, popping them could make it heal faster, since the tender skin would be exposed to air.. Hmm.

Wahh, I just hit my blister and it popped. I was just putting something in my pocket. Is there anything to put on a blister to make it heal faster or just feel better?

Not really. Not unless you tore the skin off too..

I always let the fluid out because walking on them while it's still a bubble will usually cause them to pop anyway.

I usually pop mine and let it drain. Then I pour in some peroxide or rubbing alcohol. It stings a lil but they heal fast

More chance of an infection I think. A blister is natures bandage. Don't pop it if at all possible.

I pop mine, by the next day usually the skin will have stuck back and after another day or so it'll be harder, therefore less chance you get a blister in the same place.
You should see how bad my hands get during rowing season.

I get them some when I backpack... I just stick a moleskin pad over it and let it heal on its own.

Get some Smartwool socks--I hardly ever get blisters with those.

You're not supposed to pop them at all, but I usually let mine sit for 2 days and then pop them. I think it works pretty well.
