I have never heard of any TV being damaged by playing video games. The TV is just drawing pictures, like it always does, so I don't see how it could be damaged from a video game.

I heard that you're not supposed to play video games on projection TV's cause parts of the image will burn in cause video games usually have part of the screen as stationary (stats bar or something). I'm not sure if this problem still exists though.

TV's based on CRT's won't suffer burn in though.

As long as your TV has Video-In jacks, then its manufacturers intend for you to plug in external video sources and have designed the TV to manage that.
The TV doesn't care whether it's a VCR, a DVD player, or a video game... all video sources use the same encoding (NTSC or PAL), so worry not about damaging anything.

Thanks for the info guys. I thought maybe burn in might have been a problem since parts of the game background stays stationary, but I guess like the new monitors, new TV's do not have that problem.

Hasnt damaged my TV anyway. It was made in 1988 so its 13 years old, it still works (but it says 'Sony' on the front so that explains it ;) )

Its primary function is a video game display :) It has probably been used on avarage about 2 hours a day... for 13 years.

Some projection TVs can get damaged by certain game systems if the picture is left idle for too long a period of time.
