Does PC4000 ram show up in CPUz as PC3200 or PC4000?

I have 2x512 Kingston HyperX pc4000, and they show up in CPUz as PC3200. Is this normal, or did I get duped? The reason I am getting suspicious is because I can't get my computer to boot up properly with the ram at anything more than 166FSB. even 200 FSB is a no-go, yet using clock gen I can hit 233FSB. Not sure what gives

yeah, it's quite weird. I can't get it to post at all if my bios settings are above 166fsb. However, using clockgen I can hit 233ish@2.8v to the ram.
 
I was running the sticks in dual-channel, which was evidently why they didn't want to work. I put them in single channel and I can at least get 230fsb out of them now (using bios). Still no 250 like they should be capable of though.
 
kenazo, you might be limited by ram timings or CPU, don't blame the ram right away. that 500mhz kingston ram has very high timings,check the makers said timings and check them against the ones set in your bios. if they are fine its probably just your CPU.
 
It doesn't matter. PC3200 are rebadged and sold as PC4000 and PC4200 often. My ADATA PC4000 is listed as PC3200 and my Buffalo PC3700 BH5 chip is listed as PC2700. Most of these high speed memory from Muskin, Corsair, OCZ, etc are just handpicked lower spec chips overclocked. They put these fancy heatspreader for looks and to hide the origins.

They aren't trying to hide anything... Most the time a comapny just uses the same SPD code for all modules... just tweak the CL's and they are done. This is why most have PC-3200 listed. This is the last JEDEC spec anyway. No worries your memory is correct.
