Does PC cooling lower overall room temperature?

This is probably obvious.. but just need a confirmation.

If my goal was to just have my office cooler, would extra cooling components help? I don't overclock or anything

I'm guessing that heatsinks/fans just move more heat away from components but dont lessen the overall heat of my office

And I'm not sure on water cooled solutions.. again my components will be cooler but that heat is transferred somewhere outside the pc (my office)


So to answer my own question, neither will reduce overall heat and the only way to lower temperature of room is to crank AC up. Yes?

Only way to reduce the temp of the room from the pc heat is to vent it to outside the room

Techincally speaking, any system that will better cool the PC will transfer more heat into the room, so a better cooled pc in a confined space will technically raise the room temperature faster.

The performance of the cooling device does not change how much heat is produced. If you want to cool a room off, use parts that don't produce much heat or take much juice. Keeping doors open helps big time.

Actually broke down this summer and bought a portable air conditioner for the room my PC is in. The PC runs very cool, but its irritating how warm the room gets even with the main AC in the house on.

Depending on your system, you could also consider undervolting and slowing down your CPU. Though it'd probably have to be a really hot processor and a really small room for that to make a huge difference.
