Does passing 3DMark06 mean a stable GPU overclock?

My GTX460 passed 3DMark06 without issues at 870 core/2000 mem, so is that a relatively good measure of stability at those speeds?

Yes, but try a game like Crysis, Metro and F1 2010. You want your gpu to be stable in games as well.

3d mark 06 is a cpu/gpu bench. Try vantage,3d mark 2011

crysis benchmark native res, ultra quality everything, dx10, 100 passes (something close to 6-8 hours) is what i did for my GTX460

Synthetic benchmarks dont matter. You need real world performance like gaming for 1 hour straight. etc.. gl

3DMark 11 works wonderfully. It can be looped. It makes the lights in my house flicker when I run it using the extreme preset.

Furmark is ridiculously tough on video cards. I'd say that if you can run that for an hour straight, you're good to go.

I passed in Furmark but when I loaded up Crysis it crashed. People still need to make sure and test games since games are the things you'll be playing and everything stresses cards in different ways.

Furmark by far, I could pass multiple runs of 3dmark but withing 5 minutes I could fail furmark. Sure it is hard as shit on video cards but at the same time it's a good program to let you know your rig is running good or not.

Why would people want to stress their cards if it can be tested/stressed in games (which they are)? That's like saying I'm going to do a few burnouts in the parking lot and some donuts to see if I'll have enough grip in the tires at the drag strip when I go next week!

Oddly enough I find Bad Company 2 as one of the most straining cards for my GPUs, at least they get the hottest when playing that vs anything else. If you have the game I reccomend firing it up for an hour or two to try it out. Sadly it does not have a good benchmark tool that I know of built in.
