Does oxyclean actually work?*Poll added*.

Yes it works very well at getting iodine out of your clothes, iodine out of your carpet, and iodine out of your tile and grout. All 100% true. The only problem is that I've never heard of anyone spilling iodine on their clothes, carpet, or tile.

yes it works great, but my dad is a chemist and gets the stuff free at work since it only costs $1 or less for a gallon of it.

So, yes it works great, and yes they are making almost pure profit on it.

Edit: I think we used it to do things like clean really old gross looking curtains, and they ended up looking white as new

Yea it works good for whites.

As desteffy said, it's a readily available chemical that has been around for a while and is cheap as dirt.

still worth using for colors? and whats a cheap alt if the chemical is easy to get?

i only use it on whites.
it works well enough without the commitment to bleach.

ive never used bleach, it scares me. so oxyclean it is. i bought a bucket of it in march, i still have quite a bit left.

it works pretty well on whites, but not to the exact extent they say it does, you can get it at some B&M stores

Does not work. Not even the perscription topical crap the dermatologist gave me works. The pills on the other hand work GREAT!!!

OxyClean not Oxy Acne Cream.

We've used it and it works. I don't think it works better or worse than any other product though. Nothing special about it.

I don't know, but you can try Borax or vinegar to see which one is cheaper.

also use a side loader washing machine to cut down soap & water use.
