does overclocking void warrenties?

ok if a processor works, and then i overclock it to the right settings and everything, will it reduce life?

Yes by a little but CPUs are designhed to last for a long time. And overclockign would not matter much

But how would they know?

They wouldn't...lol

They don't, because you don't try to RMA parts you busted from OCing, because if you do, I will hunt you down and kill you.

Seriously, Powercolor hired me to go whack some dongcopter who blew a 6800. 😛

so...if i overclock and bust my processor.....it wouldn't void the warrenty because "they" wouldn't be able to tell if i overclocked?

I can smell a burnt core from a mile away.

The point isn't the physical evidence, it's that anyone who RMA's a part they killed is, in my opinion, a total jackass who does nothing but raise the price of parts for everyone.

If you're going to overclock, mod, or otherwise void your warranty, be prepared to deal with the consequences. And then, of course, really tweak the bejesus out of it and see what kind of numbers you can get. 😀

and all this i sbecause i wanted to get a 3500+ but then herd the 3000+ oc to the same speed the 3500+ can, so if i screw up my parents will kill me

No--nothing's guaranteed to be stable overclocked. He meant stable at a higher stock speed. (Me, I'd just stick with the 3000.)

Just take it easy when trying out some overclocking. Don't go hey he got his 2Ghz up to 2.4Ghz. I'll run mine that fast. Speed it up slowly go incrementally. Since you gotta use the memory speed to overclock most processors. Sometimes the cost of the better memory offsets the cheaper processor. Could be better to just get the faster processor and the ram to go with it.
