Does overclocking mess with temp reading?

I have a 1600+ AGOIA 10.5x166FSB. Well was running at default speeds and decided to restart to see what it would do(just got it today). Well I didnt mess with the voltage(as a matter of fact I dropped it to 1.7v). No crashes yet but since I changed the FSB to 166 my temp shot up from 54c to 65c.

I have a Epox 8k3a+. Surely the temps can't be right? Or could they?

Any ideas?

EDIT:Wow it just jumped up from 65c straight to 70c just by installing sandra for some benches. But it went back to 65/66c.

The voltage is not the only factor that affects temparatures. A higher clockspeed will increase temparatures as well. It seems as though your jump in temparature is a little much, but I think you just need a more powerful heatsink to make that jump less drastic. Also, some good thermal paste will make a difference. Better case airflow will also make a big difference. I would suggest you stay a little more conservative on the temparatures until you get some better case/CPU cooling.

Well I am using ASII(thin layer),Taisol 3 slug clip copper based heatsink and a thermaltake 5400RPM fan. Have 2 case fans 1 blowing in through the side panel and one blowing hot air out the back.

Its running at 51c right now at default speeds 1.6v. What would be the maximum temp I would want to run it at?
