Does, or does not the mail run on Saturdays?

Hey all,

I heard about this when they were "considering it," and then, I never heard anything else, except for a few little comments that may or may not have been based on truth. I can't fiund the info ANYWHERE online, not even at usps.gov. So, how about it? Can anyone give me a link?

There is still Saturday service. The USPS is "considering it" as a cost saving method instead of raising postal rates.

Yes, it's still running on Saturdays.

My mother-in-law works for the USPS. She says they'll have a very difficult time getting rid of the Saturday delvery.

The mail always moves...

Everyday, even Sundays...now, do you get it delivered everyday, no. But it always moves.

Most people do not know this. My friend's father works for the USPS (for almost 30 years now), and he's worked every Sunday for a long, long time.

(Edit) Oh, and they are considering not delivering on Saturday to save $.

Probably the Post Office announces stuff like that to scare people into paying a more reasonable rate that better covers the true cost of delivery. The whole organization, in my opinion, only exists anymore to deliver junk mail at a subsidized rate for business. There will be powerful forces to raise the price individuals pay for mail while keeping business mail cheep. Where the hell are savings supposed to come from cutting Saturday delivery. If you got 48 hours of work a week to do in six days 8hr days it's gonna take 5 9.6hr days to do it. You either got to keep the same number of people or pay overtime, and carriers aren't required to work it if they don't want.
