Does only Epox 4g4a+ UNDERVOLT?

Hey, guys.

Is Epox 4g4a+ the only motherboard that drops vcore voltage when the cpu is under high load (like in Prime95, 3dmark, etc)? Or do other 845G and similar motherboards do the same thing?

I'd like to overclock 2.26 to 2.5 or so...

Thanks!

It's actually very common. The Epox does not undervolt, it actually overvolts to a degree, though not too bad. Almost every board I've ever used has the voltage readings change, at least a little bit, when the CPU is under full load, and it's not really a problem unless the variations are large, or stability problems result. The Epox 4G4A+ I have is actually one of the most solid boards voltage-wise I have ever used. It uses a new type of much smaller and more efficient MOSFET, and the voltage regulation of the board is very good.

However, if you don't want to take my word for it, please look here for proof. I have my 1.6A @ 2.56ghz, 160mhz FSB, and DDR400 with a 350W Antec PSU. If you look at that screenshot of my desktop while running Prime95, pay attention to the Vcore reading. I have it set in the bios @ 1.6v, but at idle it gives me 1.63v, and under full load, it only drops to 1.62v which is excellent in my opinion. 🙂

I've not found undervolting to be problem on my 4G4A+, but I've seen others who have, as well as other problems.

This is the most problem free board I've had in years...no cold boot, undervolting, OC limitation (within reason), ect, ect.

Guess I got a good one. 😀
