Nothing worth stealing in OM anyway. The only people dumb enough to steal a ream of paper or an answering machine work in the store.

OfficeMax friggen SUCKS now that they got rid of all of their free after rebate deals (they used to have them like every week).

What you should do is stuff some office supplies in your pants BEFORE you go into the store. Make sure they are from another office supply place like Staples and have the other store's name on them. Then go into Office Max and sneak around placing your stash in their store. Of course make sure the security goons see you doing this. Should mess with their minds pretty bad.

man that would piss me off. i would take my business elsewhere. i wouldn't put up with being treated like a criminal.

How are they treating you like a criminal? Do they actually impede your business? Do they stop you and question you? Frisk you? Do they check your receipt against everything in the bags you're carrying out?

How is them watching you while you're on their property and reporting your actions to someone else treating you like a criminal?

Store Guy- "NOOO!! He stole a PDA and is using it to schedule things in the store!!!!!!1!11"

Why were you standing in a Staples store playing your DS? Were you shopping and suddenly became bored enough to just stop right there and play on the DS?

Yeah it would be loads of fun until you realize that you've just given them reason to act on their suspisions. Then, when they detain you or ask you to empty your pockets and go through the whole security BS or call the police for suspected shoplifting, you can bitch about how you're being treated unfairly.

Just get in, ignore the folks who don't understand the concept of tact, get your shopping done, and GTFO.

Nah. You can get a fat lawsuit award for being falsely accused of shoplifting...why not roll the dice? :)

I don't know about you, but I don't think that's typical behavior towards a customer. i've certainly never been treated that way. that's more in line with how you'd treat someone you expect to be stealing.

So they're not allowed to persue you until they know that you've shoplifted? However, they can't know that until they catch you shoplifting. However, they can't catch you shoplifting if they don't persue you. However, they can't persue you until they know that you've shoplifted...

If you *KNOW* they're watching you, why be a douche bag? Why make life difficult for them? Why do something that YOU KNOW they're looking out for? It's like slapping your hand down on the stove when the stove is turned on. What the fvck do you expect to happen? Do you expect the bright red stove element to be room temperature?

"Someone you expect to be stealing" != criminal

I have walk-in customers all the time. Hell one of our regular delivery guys that I've known for quite some time showed up earlier this month. Instead of parking out front, he parked at the dock around back, came in through the front, past my desk, and into the warehouse looking for the dock roll-up door. I shot out my office and into the warehouse and gave him a red-faced earful. Would he pocket anything in the warehouse and steal it? Of course not. However, he deserved the "hey you dumbass, didn't you see the employee-only sign on the warehouse door? didn't you realize that the warehouse is ALARMED?" speech because he was needlessly being a dumbass. Nobody's allowed in "employee-only" areas here without an employee escort. Sh|t, we have areas of the building that require TS clearance from DOD because of the information stored here.

Anyway, it's obviously not the same, but just because you didn't actually do anything criminal yet doesn't mean that you should be treated like a king. It's not against the law for my driver to be in the warehouse, but it sure as sh|t was a stupid, unprofessional, discourteous thing for him to do.

that was an idiotic comparison.

anyway, as i said, if that's thier attitude, i won't be shopping there. there's plenty of other stores out there than don't act like this.

Agreed. He was in a place where he wasn't supposed to be unsupervised. That's not the case with Office Max.

Well you're obviously not *trying* to make a correlation between the two. My point was directed at those who would *try* to make it look like they were stealing. You try to make it look like you're stealing just to piss of the folks who are making it obvious that they're watching for theft, expect those folks to fvck with you right back. You do something stupid, you receive negative consequences.

Haven't had a pimple since I was in my mid 20's. Until I met you of course.
