Does OfficeMax have a problem with shop lifting or something?

Is that why they have G-Men stalking their customers as they walk through the door??

They have their little headsets on and report on EVERYTHING we do. I walk in and the guy is looking all devious as he's talking into his mic an explaining to everyone else that "We've got one coming, heading towards back of the store."

All of them are like that. There was an Indian fella looking at the cameras and I overheard one of them say "Watch him, don't take any chances." WTF, the things are bolted to the showcase.

And it's not just one OfficeMax, they all have this sorta big brother thing going on.

maybe they are dealing with a recent string of in-store thefts. not uncommon, at the best buy in syracuse people use to grab merchandise and bolt out of the store. now they have 2 people guarding the entrances at all times

You look like a criminal?

Maybe stop wearing the t-shirt that says "I don't break for law-abiders"?

I had that experience a few weeks ago at a Nordstroms. Sorry I wasn't wearing my Armani suit:roll:

EDIT: I'm white/chinese and my gf is chinese. Go figure.

Not just me. They do it for every customer coming in. Whenver someone comes through the door, they alert everyone through their headsets as to where they are going and what they are doing. There always seem to be 3-4 employees roaming the store at any given time.

They do it in the OM by me too, but I don't feel like I'm being treated like a criminal. If they want to watch me shop, fine. They don't breathe down my neck. Other stores do it with cameras, what's the difference?

I just ignore them.

i don't care about cameras or people watching, but if its to the point that they can be heard saying stuff, that's where I draw the line.

Yeah, with cameras they're out of the way. But when you have employees on the floor calling play by plays loud enough for other customers to hear, I think that's kinda pushin' it.

put on a black jumpsuit and tippy toe around the store going "dun dun... DUN DUN... dun dun dun dun dun dun........ DUN DUN DUN!!!!"

I'd be really tempted to reenact a scene from Splinter Cell. I wonder how much a pair of non-functioning IR goggles costs.
