does OCCT's Linpack test actually tell you of CPU instabilities?

i'd like to know if OCCT's CPU:Linpack test actually tests for errors like their own OCCT CPU test.
will running 50 passes of it tell me if my cpu's pretty much stable or not?

i dont like to bother with p95 they're too slow to find errors, often near 24 hours

usually if OCCT is going to crash on me, it does it within 30 minutes.

Depending on the speed of your cpu, a full cycle of Prime95 'Blend' will take about 9 1/2hrs

Yup, you just turn it on at bed time and when you wake, it's done.

Use LinX.

And P95.

They will find different issues, so don't assume you can always run one & not the other.

for me the occt Linpack tends to be more strict than prime95. if my machine can pass prime it might not pass occt/linpack. so I usually just do 2 hrs of occt/linpack and that should be sufficient. then do memtest86+ for few hours for the memory side.

:thumbsup: +1 @ what he said... occt far more stressful on the oc than prime. i.e. shorter time required to tell if your oc is bogus lol... + if your oc can last 10 hrs on occt small ffts then u know it's granite...

OCCT's linpack is broken. Use OCCT's CPU test. If you want max heat/stress use Intel BurnIn or Lynx with Linpack.

The PSU test produces a lot of stress however I was able to get another 50W out of the wall by running that along with Prime95! :Q It really makes the 295's fan ROAR to life and spew heat like a toaster oven in the desert.

It fails to load all logical processors to 100% despite showing 100% load on its control panel. Linx with stop on error is a better solution and produces far more heat than any other program while checking errors.

This may be the case. My other non i7 quads are running non Windows OS so I cannot test them right at the moment.

I also had "issues" with the OCCT Linpack incarnation.

Rubycon is a treasure-trove of information, folks!

Ruby -- I must've skipped something about your boat. Do you have any room for furniture with all those non-I7 and I7 quads of yours? LOL.

Make sure it's in the root of your Linpack folder in order to run.
