Does nVidia makes their own graphics card?

Just a quick question;
So far I knew that nVidia only makes GPU's. Rest are made by other companies.
I asked a question to MSI. Their 9600GT has 1700MHz clock speed. But, nVidia says 9600GT has 1800MHz clock speed. I was confused, so I asked MSI why is this difference. They replied me "Because every different companty has different manufacture Spec.The information of "1800 MHz memory" you get is only for NVIDIA."

So, my question is; does nVidia make card itself?

no, they don't, slower memory usually means that the manufacturer went with more memory than standard and to cut costs they used memory with lower speeds

Nvidia does actually make the reference cards that a few companies sell, such as eVGA.

I believe you're right about Foxconn being the maker of reference boards for NVIDIA, don't know if there are others.

I also seem to recall some models are more restricted than others, and there have been parts where every one sold was a reference board, but I could be mistaken there.

I want to say the FX5800Ultra and 512MB 7800GTXs were like this, and the buzz at the time was they were clocked so high NVIDIA wanted extra quality control on them, so OEMs bought whole boards and only installed the fans on them. (which may have worked out pretty well as my 512 7800GTX is still grinding out the pixels)

I think there might be a distinction between Foxconn retail, and Hon Hai (the OEM manufacturer that's Foxconn's parent company). I've been reading various rumors about Foxconn, either that they're restructuring (according to XBit) or that they're leaving the retail market altogether.

Flextronics was a reference board maker for Nvidia at some point (dating back to around the 8-series), not sure what their status is right now.

The "rumor" is that Foxconn is considering trading their retail business to Asus, in exchange for Asus' OEM business. Both companies play to their strengths. Win win.

They've made NVIDIA boards a lot more recently than the 8-series.
