Hi Everyone,

I've been trying to find the answer for the capabilities of the Nvidia ion2 and I can't seem to find a clear answer. I was wondering if anyone here can help me.

1) Is it HDMI 1.4 compatible? I've read in some forums that is not HDMI 1.4 compatible (not fully) - because I don't see it mention on the specifications on Nvidia's website that the ION2's hdmi port is HDMI 1.4.

2) I've read it can support 3D gaming... but can it playback Full HD 3D video in 1080p along with bitstreaming HD Audio (7.1 channels, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-Master Audio) to a digital audio receiver.

3) I know it needs NVIDIA® 3DTV Play™ software to be able to play back blu-ray 3D movies - but since it is a Nvidia ION2 will it play the 3D videos back in full HD 1080p? Because from what I read I assumed that Nvidia 3DTV Play needs Geforce GPUs and Windows 7 machines.

Any additional information would be helpful... thank-you in advance! ^_^

As I understand it, ION2 is actually weaker than ION, due to how it's connected to the rest of the system. It even struggles playing back non-3D 1080P video I think.

This is from the Anandtech ASSRock ION 3D review they did in January. Check out the review for actual performance statistics. Yes, the ASSRock ION 3D supports HDMI 1.4a which is a requirement for Bluray 3D. It includes the NG-ION GT218 GPU.
