Does nVidia/ATi/IBM/AMD/Intel/etc. make their own chips in house?

Well I know AMD does and assume Intel does, but does ATi and nvidia? Like do they own their own plants? Or are they outsourced to other chip makers?

nVidia: No, entirely outsourced.
ATi: One small fab, all chips are outsourced.... a few PCB's and similar such things for the FireGL series is done in-house.
IBM: Entirely in-house, the second most powerful fabrication facilities next to Intel.
AMD: FAB/ K7 Microprocessors are in-house.... they have plans to outsource some to UMC though. I believe their networking, and wireless chips are outsoureced but I'm not sure.... their Alcchemy StrongARM related stuff I'm similarly unsure.
Intel: In-House, the worlds leaders in fabrication resources.

Danke much, couldn't get this guy to belive that ATi and nVidia weren't in house. I wanted to say nVidia did TSMC and ATi NEC, but that could be off. Just confirmation that they weren't in house is enough 🙂

Bruno, just saw your post on VE3D.

So this is where you got that from, go figure, I was thinking the same "Rand" as you were.

Yup, with credit and everything 😛 And was just asking about IBM for my own curiosity. Guess that was kinda dumb, should have been obvious. I just don't keep up with that sort of stuff much 🙁
