Does Norton Ghost (from NSW2003pro) support writing to NTFS AND Fat32 partitions?

My Ghost that came with NSW2001 didn't support writing ghost images to (or restoring from) NTFS partitions. I now have NSW2003 Professional. Does the included Ghost (I think it's called 6.0) support NTFS partitions in the way that the earlier version didn't? This will have a bearing on what file system I put on the partitions of my new HDs. I have the manual, but it's a 221 page PDF!!! Thanks!!

Edit: I've found that it ONLY writes to NTFS, not Fat32 partitions!! WTF?

I know the latest ones do, probably at least as old as 7.0. Not sure about 6.0.

Apparently the answer is "yes." You can write Ghost images to and restore from NTFS partitions. It's on page 14 of the manual.

I AM dismayed to find that they don't seem to make it any easier to create a bootable Ghost CD. The process of creating a bootable Ghost disk with the Norton Ghost Bootdisk Wizard creates a floppy! A FLOPPY!!!

Reasons this is STUPID:

1. Ghost runs at 1/5 the speed from a floppy that it runs from a CD, and that's generous.

2. A lot of people don't even have floppy drives.

In NSW 2001, there IS a way you can make a Ghost bootable CD, but it wasn't easy and I only have one and for some goddamn reason I couldn't make a copy of it that works. However, since I want NTFS support, I have to create another for NSW 2003 pro Ghost. I guess I'll have to dive into that 221 page manual. Ugh! Symantec, what can you say about them? They didn't write Ghost. They bought it from some people with talent. Rant over.

I can't believe it - my usage has shown me that it no longer supports writing to or reading from Fat32 partitions, only NTFS! WTF is going on? I see no remedy in the Options.

My workaround (this should NOT be necessary) is to use two different Ghost CD's:

1. Ghost 2001 - supports Fat32, not NTFS.

2. Ghost 2003 - supports NTFS, not Fat32.

This can't be.

Ghost 2003 supports writing to and from both NTFS and Fat32 partitions I've done it, and when you use the ghost boot wizard there is an option for creating bootable CD's also (i've done this) it's just not the same wizard as for creating the floppy. This is the version that came w/ NSW 2003 Pro

Hmm. I didn't see a wizard for creating bootable Ghost CDs. I opened NSW, Ghost, Ghost Utilities, and at the top it says Norton Ghost Boot Wizard. In there, I didn't see an option to create a CD Ghost boot disk. You wouldn't know unless you proceed to make a disk what kind it is, but it's a floppy. Those guys, I don't know. I do have NSW 2003 Professional. Guess I'm missing something, or a few things.

Fair warning though - if you want to ghost a bootable NTFS drive, you need to clone the entire drive, not just the bootable partition. Otherwise, the duplicate will not be bootable.

Holy crap! What's the workaround? I'm going to make my 120 GB drive my boot drive. I have to image the entire drive to restore my boot partition? Oooh. Maybe I should install a little boot drive, then? Argh!

I could swear I've done this though: Restore just the NTFS boot partition from image. I HAVE had my problems, though, but I don't remember the details. It's been a while since I've done any work with Ghost. Is the problem just if you write to and from NTFS partitions? or even Fat32 partitions? Is this true with ghost 2001, IOW?
