Does northbridge actually affect Video card temp?

overclocked my ds3, the memory is running at 2.0v. As everyone noticed, the NB is very hot, and my 7600gs fanless vid reached 68-70c idling. I wonder what caused the vid so hot? and does NB contribute a lot to the heat? my old agp fanless 9600xt runs at 58c idling only. Any idea? TIA
