Does "non-drowsy" mean it will KEEP you awake?

Bought some Sudafed yesterday for a cold I have and I wasn't able to sleep a wink last night. I looked at the box and it said non-drowsy... I know they sometimes add caffeine and stuff to that, but isn't that usually labelled under "daytime" medicine?

Blah all I know is in about an hour I'm going to be face down on my desk for the rest of the day...

Pseudoephedrine is similar to ephedra according to what I read on wikipedia and is a stimulant, I believe, so yes, it will tend to keep you awake.

Might help to take it with some benadryl at night. Nyquil contains a different antihistamine that supposedly knocks you out even better than benadryl, but they have taken out the pseudoephedrine in most of the newer boxes so don't forget to check your box and take a separate decongestant edit: (if your box lacks a decongestant) or you will be knocked out and not be able to breathe. It's a very distressing feeling and I want to punch someone at Vicks for making me go through it.

Idiot. No it doesn''t mean it's a stimulant, it means it just doesn't make you drousy.

...he says as he spells drowsy wrong. Gotta love it....

More than likely, the med did not cause your insomnia directly, but may have counter acted with something else in your system. I have found that sometimes I can't sleep because I start TRYING to sleep too much. Those "I have GOT to get to sleep because I'm getting up early" deals where it is 2am and you are staring at the ceiling because you are too stressed on getting sleep that you keep yourself awake.
