Does .NET slow down your computer

My wife bought Print Shop version 21. As part of the installation it put Microsoft .NET on my system. My boot times went from about 10 seconds to about 45 seconds. When I removed the program the boot went back to 10 seconds.

Why does a desktop publishing program need .NET? Does it just slow things down or does it do more things that are not so apparent?

.NET is a programming framework. It provides services to applications. Visit Windows Update, install .NET V1, then restart and go back for .NET SP1

.Net is a framework of software components. It is required by programs that are built on it; they will not run without it.

I have two versions of .Net on my system, and neither has had any effect on boot times. I would look at the DTP program itself. Many of these install download managers, and update managers, etc., which run at boot. Something like that may be slowing you down.
