i installed the updates for nero ( i know the updates fix the incompatibility issue because they did so on my friends' computers).
everytime i try to burn a mp3 cd, at 5% complete, it aborts saying "SCSI device aborted" (dont have any SCSI devices)...nero craps out and freezes, freezing the computer and requiring a hard reboot.
kicker is when i try to do cd to cd copy, it works fine.
i emailed nero about it and they said
now in my device manager, i dont have "Primary IDE Channel" or "Secondary IDE Channel" under "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers." I just have some like nForce2 IDE controller. and I cannot find any "Transfer Mode" in the properties.
any clue as to what might be going on?

thank you very much for your e-mail.
Please activate DMA for all your CD/DVD drives.
For Windows 95/98/ME: Go to your 'Control Panel->System->Device Manager->CDROM' and under your drives 'Properties->Settings' enable DMA for your devices.
For Windows 2000/XP: Go to your 'Control Panel->Systems->Hardware->Device Manager' and from there double-click on the 'IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers'. Right-click on the 'Primary IDE Channel' and go to 'Properties>Advanced Settings', and change Transfer Mode to 'DMA if available'. Do the same for the Secondary IDE Channel
