Does NE1 else play Kramer's "How far can I go on E" game? :-)

I was on the highway and my needle went to "E" 55 miles from home. I started thinking of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer was test driving the Saab and he kept driving and driving.

My light gas light kept fading in and out as I was pushing 75-80MPH. Then it just stayed lit and the needled dropped below E and I started getting scared😉 But I said, "BE LIKE KRAMER" and passed 3 gas exits on the highway til I got into town to fill up at my usual station for $1.52 a gallon. I put in 17.1 gallons. My tank is 18 gallons:Q😛

In my former car my tank used to be 12 gallons and I can remember many times when the pump claimed that I had pumped 13 gallons.

I think the gas stations rip people off.

The needle in my jeep kinda wobbled a lot while driving... so i never really knew how much gas I had. It was your best guesstimate, turns out i'm a pretty good guesser. 🙂

LOL... great episode. I did that one time... scared like heck when it dipped severely under the "E", but filled up just in time (full tank, don't remember it to the exact decimal point).

Isn't that the episode where the mechanic steals George's Twix bar? 😀

Nope. They cannot. They are actually quite strictly regulated. Even 0.001 gallons off, and they will correct it.

Yep, I believe that's the episode with Puddy's high fives and the rigged candy bar line-up. That episode was great 🙂

"I'd like to file a complaint"
"Is there something wrong with your car?
"My car?? No, it's one of your mechanics! His name was Moe, Curly, Jim, something like that!"

😛

Not an exact quote, but close enough😀

I was in the hills east of San Diego coming from Tucson. I had never driven there before so I asumed there were gas stations in regular intervals.
But noo-way-Jose'.
After 374 miles the needle was on 'E' and no gas in sight. I started to get nervous. Coasting down the hills, turning of at the Casino asking for gas but no gas were to find. Coasting along and suddenly, *BAM* gas stations evey where. 😀

Turned out I had 3.6 gallons left. :Q Filled up 14.4 gallons and drove off 😀
Turned out my car got 26.7 mpg, damn good for a 3800 lbs boat with a big V6.

My dad does that all the time. Except once he went totally empty just as he got home. It was so bad that the car wouldn't start up the next morning on the driveway. So I had to use the jerrican we have the garage that holds fuel for the lawnmower. Let me tell you, pouring fuel from the gerrican into the car is a bitch! I had to use two funnels and still spilt some gas on the driveway. Stupid almost vertical gas filler holes.

yeah the worst was when i was driving to texas this summer...i had drivin pretty far on E, but there had been signs for a gas station 20 miles ahead, so i no problem, right?...NO...the gas station was closed and the next gas was like 70 miles or so...i was scared i wasnt gonna make it, and this was in the middle of the desert in Arizona or New MExico...i made it though, with under a gallon left.
