Does my XP CD have SP1 on it?

Silly question perhaps, but i don't know if XP CD have SP1 on it? There's no indication one way or the other. How can i find out? I'm using Win 2K at the moment. Is there a file on the cd that will tell me? I would just like to know as i'm about to format and don't want to go through the hassle of downloading the service pack and installing it later. There must be some way to tell!!

Well, on my XP Pro CD, if I look in I386\SYSTEM32 and check the properties of NTDLL.DLL, I get:

Size: 658 KB (674,304 bytes)
Created: Thursday, August 23, 2001, 7:00:00 AM

But if I extract the same file from the XP SP1 CD and look at its properties, I get:

Size: 653 KB (668,672 bytes)

I suppose that would be one way to tell... I'd be interested to hear what you find.

Ummm, as far as I know they don't go updating the original install cds. You will have to download SP1 or have MS mail you SP1 on cd.

They have XP out with XP1 rolled into it.

😱 Well I'll be! How come they didn't ever do that win NT, 2K, etc 😱

They have that too. Win2k had sp1 sp2 & now sp3 slipstreamed into it.

do a search for Slipstream & you can make your own WinXP SP1 cd.
