Does my motherboard support a 3200+? And how good is my memory?

OK, so I have a Barton 2500+, the current ideal choice in the AMD world. And I have a A7N8X-X which on the website states that it supports a 400Mhz FSB but not up to the 3200+, is there something wrong here? It should support it shouldn't it?

And second question, I got Kingston HyperX PC2700. If I get the processor to run at 400Mhz FSB can I raise the latencies and raise the memory speed to 200Mhz without a glitch?

Thanks for the help people!

if it supports 400mhz fsb then it shouldnt have any problems running an xp3200+ (the web site may not have been updated since before the xp3200+ was released)

and most likely your ram will not be able to run 200mhz... you will probably need to sell it and buy some pc3200 or faster

Ahem. According to these forums HyperX is one of the top two for this job.

Your HyperX is rated at PC2700... which is 333mhz FSB... maybe it will reach 400mhz with relaxed timings...maybe not. Not quite guaranteed. 🙂

sorry i wasnt clear in my earlier post 🙂

im not saying it isnt possible that your current ram can hit 200mhz, im just saying its far from a guarantee
if you do try to run it at that speed make sure you run memtest86 to check for memory errors (its the best way to make sure your ram wont cause random errors and system instability from being overclocked past what it can handle)
