Does my hsf support am2 or not?

I just bought a RX Series Silent Boost RX K8 for my computer. Nowhere on it does it say that it supports the am2 socket that my computer has. But i've google'd it looking for reviews and some reviews list it supporting am2. What is up with that? Does it support it, or does it not support it?

I am utterly confused!

Thermaltake says it supports AM2. That's who I'd believe.

Is it just me or does the picture look like it says it supports 939/754/M2?

Is there a difference between AM2 and M2 or is that just a typo?

Yeah, it does say "M2". But since there's no such thing as an "M2" processor (unless BMW has gotten into the processor business), it's obviously talking about the AMD AM2.

Okay, so the final verdict people. Is it applicable or not?

Okay people. I just installed it. The only problem I've encountered is the power cord for the fan. The power cord has a 3-pin adapter on it but the place where you plug up the fan is 4-pin. What does this mean? Does this mean the heatsink wasn't made for my motherboard or will it work if just plugged into the 3 out of 4 pins of the slot on the motherboard?

I'd definitely like some help since I don't want to blow $1000 on this computer.

Look for a 3 pin on your mobo......there should be one on there.

I read the manual, the 4-pin can work for 3-pin adapters, I think.

Turned on the PC, and it is quiet and nothing is burning. So I think it is good. I am still kind of scared something will go wrong, but I hope nothing does.

The 4-pin header is required for proper use of AMD's "Cool and Quiet". But you can use a 3-pin fan without problems other than that.
