Does my boss have a virus!?!

My boss' email is getting spammed about one email every 3 seconds. Most of them are the same email too within the dates of 8/31 - 9/02. He is not getting any of his current emails and yes he is using Microsoft Outlook 2000. What should I do? It's a Dell computer and he said that if I needed to restore it back to its original settings I could. Is there another way!?!

Ok...I just ran ad aware and it detected some gator files and I immediately deleted them but the emails are still pouring in. He told me that on Monday he had about 2000 emails in his inbox. Anything else I could try?

it might not be his computer.. my office had something like this happen to them too... somehow a virus on another computer got their email adresses and sent out lots of email adresses..

the only way we could fix it was blocking all incoming email onto the server coming from those email adresses.

tel him to set up his email on another computer (like yorus) that doesnt have this problem.. and see if you keep getting the emails.

I just set up his email on my computer and I was getting the same emails. Now I know its not a virus. So now I have to block those email addresses from the incoming mail server? Thanks for everyone's help.

Someone who has your bosses email addy in their contacts folder may have a virus. Klez or a variant come to mind.

Or else someone got pissed at your boss and signed him up for a lot of spam.
