I know that i can't enable h/w acceleration in Powerdvd of i get a funky screen of artifacts...is this because my kard doesn't support that (plain powercolor 128mb 9800 pro)?

Cheers folks 🙂

well, my ATi 9800 supports powerdvd's hardware acceleration,, along with all the other radeons, all the way down to the 7000s.

So you might want to try a different set of videocard drivers or check your copy of powerdvd.

how could i test if it works with ne thing else (wmp10 ideally, or vlc media player)? Been playing with

Using the 4.12 cats with CCC

ATI has had hardware MPEG decode (for DVDs) forever. Even with a 9200 you get hardware assisted MPEG decode. With the 9550 9600 and above there is hardware assisted de-interlacing as well (the big "feature" that NVIDIA is making people pay for with PureVideo). You could download Zoom player, that gives you more options to fiddle around with/ turn on VM9 and DXVA (using directX 9 video aceleration for watching DVDs). Do you have any other MPEG-2 codecs installed (other than what PowerDVD installed onto your system)? Maybe there is some kind of conflict happening.

got a shiat load of codec pax cos i had loads of probs after a reformat n reinstall bout three months back...😛

U got a link 4 zoom player? (lazy i know- but dialup google is hell 🙁 )

cheers folks
