Does my 8800GT need ramsinks?

I have an Arctic Cooler Accelero S2 that I'm mounting on my PNY 8800GT. The original cooler makes contact with the RAM, do I need to put ramsinks on my card? Thanks!

recommended, but if you don't overclock your ram then it probably will be okay, although I'd expect their lifespan to be shortened

My 8800gt that I've been running for 2 years didn't come with ramsinks and so far so good. I used to have it overclocked, but now it's all stock.

I've run my 8800gt with a passive accelero s1 for about 2 years. Never had a problem at 650/1900 speeds. Note, however, that the s1 came with small silver heatsinks that are stuck on the ram modules, and they probably offer some small benefit. You could consider using them if you have them.

Thanks for the replies everyone. The Accelero S2 I'm using was taken from another card. I no longer have the ramsinks for it. The original cooler also contacts the voltage regulation modules. I looked around and found some nice custom heatspreaders by iandh at Petra's Tech Shop. http://www.petrastechshop.com/cu88cokitbyi.html (sorry for not hotlinking, I haven't been to forum in ages and don't recognize/see where to do it).

I should be receiving the package today. The video card is the loudest part of my computer. I plan on keeping the 8800GT for a good long while since all I'm going to buy for games this year is Starcraft II and Civilization V. :D

the accelero comes w/ ramsinks, so u should definitly install em as arctic cooling says u need em ( i had an 8800gt and had ramsinks installed). The mosfets on the 8800gt dont need any heatsinks though, that i remember.
