Does multi-streaming on your MB actually work?

Hi gang,

Recently I've noticed that the last few motherboards I've installed/used doesn't support multi-streaming (i.e. hearing 2 different signals from the channels on the rear of the MB and something totally different on the front panel) although the codec on the board in most cases is capable of doing so

After fighting and searching online for an answer on my latest board (IP35 Pro), I've just come to the conclusion that abit just didn't add the necessary circuitry needed to support this feature. My last 2 boards (evga 680i and P5B Deluxe) were the same way.

That brings me to question, are we being cheated? Does your board support this function? if so, what board, codec on the board and what OS are you using? I'd like to complile a list just for sakes

Thanks in advance

I have a gigabyte board with the realtek chipset and multistreaming does work on this board. I don't have a real need for the feature, but I tested just to see.

Board: GA-P35-DS3L
OS: Xp X64
Codec : ALC888

Thanks Modelworks, this kinda confirms my conspiracy theory that its up to the MB manufacturers to implement this feature in hardware. My IP35 Pro also used the ALC888 and its not functional in Vista x64, XP x64 or XP Pro.

Anyone else care to chime in?

How do you control which apps access which channels of the codec? Does it set up an additional psudeo-device to select, or something?
