Does MS still replace broken Intellimouse opticals for free?

I know they used to.....do they still?

If so, does anyone have the number to call?

Cheers

I did this once, but I lost my sheet with all the info on it. You had to scan/photocopy the bottom of your mouse (serial number, barcode, etc) and then fax it to a certain dept at Microsoft with your info and they would ship you out a new one. I actually got an upgrade from the first Intellimouse Explorer to the Intellimouse Explorer 3 that I just recently stopped using in favour of my Logitech MX650.

Ditto. Another success story here.

They also tossed in a free steak.

My old Intellimouse was replaced a few years ago. The replacement is starting to act flakey now, so I've been debating on whether I should try it again.

I had a wireless intellimouse explorer 2.0 that the left mouse button quit working and since they do not make it anymore, they could only offer me a refund. I would have had to provide a receipt. I bought this mouse about 18 months ago.

So as with everything YMMV

Thanks for reminding me - my sleep button on my keyboard has been wonky and I just called to get it replaced. Took about 2 minutes to do - no hold time!

The question is this - can you get a replacement for a replacement? If I buy a new MS mouse and it dies after a year - can I get a RMA on the replacement mouse in a year if something goes wrong?

Up until the model no longer exists. After that you are SOL

That's exactly what happened with me just two weeks ago, except my mouse is more than 3 years old. I no longer have the receipt...my fault. I save receipts for "everything"...except this one darn time, of course.

The left-click button on mine works perfectly about 50% of the time. The other 50%, when you click once, it clicks onscreen two or three times. Not fun when you have multiple IE windows open and are logged into multiple Webmail accounts, working from home and closing one window closes them all. :(
