Does MHz at default voltage = Heat??

Hiya,


I am almost ready to put my system together, the chip will arrive tomorrow.

So.. if I manage to overclock at default voltage, does this create a hotter CPU?
Or is it only voltage that makes for a hot CPU??


BTW I got my Asus P4G8X today.. and all I can say is.... WOW.
I am still running 600 MHz on a BX chipset.. so I have never seen anything like this,
I got the deluxe version as well so the box is fulla toys.

I have been burned buying motherboards online in the past.. as in recieving a DOA board
and getting a major hassle on the RMA, so I bought the board at my trusty local PC store..
but ummmm I don't wanna talk about how much I had to pay for it.
However for the extra price I know I can get fast and hassle free returns.

Damn... I HATE waiting on UPS.

yes...the faster the chip goes the more watts of heat that is produced...However rasing the vcore often adds more heat so at default and a certain mhz is usually better then same mhz with a raised vcore....

I went from 2.4 to 3.15ghz at default vcore and idle temps raised 3c....after as3 settled it and dropped back down 3c I was actually running at same temp I first saw at 2.4ghz.....from 3.15 to 3.24 with .1v more of vcore the temp is 4c higher...so yuou can see small mhz jump but vcore led to jump in temp...

according to the math, it should get hotter....
but if you are running a good HSF w/ decent case cooling, it wont "read" any hotter unless you add vcore.
