Does Melatonin work well for insomnia ?

Alcohol applied liberally works well. So does smoking a bowl before bed. 😀

True dat.
Melotonin works OK if you have an altering sleep schedule like you maybe work late nights one week, but then the next you have to shift your schedule back or forward 8hrs or more to be up during the day. I believe that hormone is one that lets your body know it's time for bed--it's not some cure-all sleep inducer. I never had decent luck with the stuff.

I have worked nights for several years and occasionally I needed something to help me sleep.Melatonin worked for a couple of years then quit working. I tried valerian root but it gave headaches and nightmares. I occasionally take a Benadryl for insomnia and it works quite well.

it didnt for me...now I use valerian-sp root...which knocks me out pretty well

valerian root is OK (and in my experience better than melatonin), but it has some strange side effects. Most noticably, intense and very vivid dreams. It also smells like complete ass. Like, horrible, terrible, don't want to even put it near my mouth bad.
