Does MCE work with premium programming? Or HD?

I have an HDTV and an HD cablebox/dvr - is there a way to have Windows MCE get the premium channels (hbo, showtime, etc) with the wall cable plugged into the computer? What about HD channels?

Or am I pretty much stuck piping the cable box directly to my 1080p monitor?

If your computer's tuner does HD, you may be able to get the HD channels... I think the premium channels are encrypted (or something) though. Take that with a grain of salt, as I haven't actually done it.

It is possible, but it requires a Digital Cable Tuner (DCT, also known as OCUR). DCTs are only available packaged with a PC from an OEM. In other words, you can't go out and buy a DCT and hook it up to your existing Media Center box.

Dang.... i don't have any kind of a tuner in there as it is, but i got my 1080p westy hooked up to my pc and cable box and was hoping I could get rid of the cable box and have my computer piping all the signals to the monitor.

This is in my bedroom so i'm trying to simplify the situation as much as possible.
