Yes I am an idiot....care to add any else intelligent ?

I love how most people go off the subject just to attack someone.
Does that make you guys feel good ?
Did I attack someone in my original post...did I insult someone's intelligent ??

The point I was making was that I was surprised how low the wages are in NY.
I was wondering if its just fast food or all menial jobs in NY.

I know certain people can have a pretty decent living working menial jobs.
Housekeepers, park attedants, etc... at DISNEY can make up to $11/hr and with the constant OT, its a comfortable living.

Given that McDonald's and all entry-level job market positions are generally geared for high school and college kids looking to make extra money, like the 16 year-old who bags your groceries at the local supermarket or towels your car-off at the car wash, or retired seniors looking for something to keep themselves busy, I'd say anyone who looks to burger-flipping for a 'career' that will pay enough to purchase a home in Manhattan (or anywhere else for that matter) is pretty much a complete idiot.

Burger flipping, like bagging groceries, is a short term hitch or a 'stint', not something to which a person possessing an ounce of intelligence looks to provide them with gainful support.

Of course, that a few idiots do think that flipping burgers and bagging groceries and toweling cars ought to pay $70,000 a year is only proof of their wildly unrealistic expectations, not that the job doesn't pay enough.

Yeah, everybody laughs. But hard work pays off too.

A dude who graduated HS with me began working at a McDonalds for $2.65 per hour in '80 or '81, if I remember right. He stuck with it and remained in the same store for about 7 years. During this time at the store, he went to college and earned a BBA. He was shift manager then store manager then district manager. He finally ended up at MCD HQ in Illinois after earning an MBA at night in the 90s.

About two years ago, he told me that he planned on either retiring or changing careers in '04. His salary is currently over $100K per year. I know he has quite a large amount of company stock.

I think dude has the last laugh.

Don't know about mcdonalds but i damn well getting underpaid for my parttime retail job :-( sigh... (Brooklyn,NY)

$6/hour @ Footaction... I damn well should be getting like $8/hour or something... ahh well im quitting when school starts!!! Hell the freaking security guy that sits there in front of the store gets $8.75/hour.
