Does logitech require RMA to be sent in before?

Few years back when I RMAed by G15, they didnt even require me to send in the keyboard. Now its acting up again and the backlight is flickering but i dont have a spare keyboard to use if I RMA it. Im wondering if Logitech still has the same policy?
 
It seems to go back and forth. About 8 months ago when my brother damaged his DiNovo, he had to send his back. When mine had a broken key, they never wanted the old one back, just shipped a new one.
