Does Linux support the new 945 / 955 Intel chipsets?

I am fairly new to Linux and am about to get another mainboard since my Asus 915 chipset board had only one distro that I could find that supported a marvel NIC. (Suse 9.3)

I was also having some problems with driver support for an ATI X800XT card but have switched over to Nvidia.

Now my question is this, are many distros supporting the new Intel 945 and 955 chipsets? at this point I am not planning on buying a dual core processor but I would like to get a newer chipset in case I ever decide to. This will be the last board I will be purchasing probably for quite a while and would like to get one that will be as upgradeable as possible as far as dual core and 64 bit capability.

Thanks!

Actually I did try that and still had problems, I am building another system anyway since I gave the Asus to my son, so I am looking for my next upgrade. (which will be the last one for a considerable amount of time.)
