does laptop sound card support 4 channel speakers?

Hi
I just got my inspiron 5000 600mhz. I wanted to buy
a Klipsch ProMedia (http://www.klipsch.com), 4 channel
speaker and I would like to know if my sound device,
Maestro-2E,(http://www.esstech.com/), will support 4
channel audio siganl. If it doesn't, how can I get my
laptop to support 4 channel speaker?

You can do what I do if you want...skip buying computer speakers and get a Dolby Surround Sound system....you can run a 3.5mm jack to RCA adapter and get surround sound out that way. To get surround sound, you really only need a controller to carry the signal to the 4 speakers(my system has 8). I don't know much about the speakers you're asking about, but is should work....as long as you know exactly what the inputs are on your speakers and how many are required for surround sound.
