Does KAV slow down downloads?

I was downloading some... um.. files.. earlier and it was really slow. Just installed KAV (virus only). Could it be slowing down the net?

I have kapersky: and I havent noticed any difference?
 
Did you install the toolbar, and did you configure the KAV properly? There are some options that slow things down.
