Does it seem like your WD 80 gig drive is loud?

I dunno if this is a loud drive or not, on my previous computer had a 4 gig hard drive which didn't make any noise, but it was slower...Does anyone find this drive noise annoying or is it just me?

Get some decent speakers.
I have one of them, doesn't seem very loud, although I have a really loud case and always listen to music, so I can't really comment.

No because I bought the Maxtor drive instead.


I never liked Western Digital personaly,Quantum was my fav & since Maxtor ate them up I will go Maxtor from now on.

If you read up here or on storagereview.com, you'd have known that WD drives are the loudest, Seagate 'cuda IV are the quietest.

I have two of the drive. One is extremely quiet and the other has a high pitched whine that is damn annoying. I sent the whiny one to WD and they sent another one that has the same whine. I'm guessing that there are two versions of the drive at least. One is quiet and one is loud.
