Hey a buddy of mines is looking to build a rig and is looking at one of these 4 mobo

I think he has the c2d E6600. His ram is corsair value ddr2 -667

He doesnt have his rig over clocked but he is thinking about maybe trying to overclock it to 2.6 if he decides to overclock. My question is if he isnt overclocking, when it comes to a p35 board should he just look for a board with the features he wants?

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L for $93
Abit IP35-E for ~$81 after shipping and $20MIR

Both of these are nice boards that will OC very well (should be able to easily hit 3GHz with stock cooling). You didn't specify which features you need on the other boards, these two are pretty basic but will suit many needs.

He just wants something with around 6 to 7 usb ports (i told him he could add a usb card via a pci slot) and around 5 sata ports. Mine is a P5w Dh deluxe but it falls short on the sata port side and he wants a newer mobo. Ive mainly used Asus but i figured i get more opinions

IP35-E is $71 AR @ MWAVE. Comes with 4 rear USB ports. There are four additional USB headers on board. Therefore, total available USB port is 12.

the cheapest mobos are likely to fall down on the no. of SATA ports then but sometthing like an IP35/P35-DS3R or DS3P would be OK

Abit IP35 for $136 shipped from Newegg

Has 6 SATA ports onboard, 4 USB ports on rear plate and 4 more headers onboard to support up to 8 more USB ports on front of case. If you need more USB ports available, add this internal USB/Firewire adapter for $13 to have access to both the USB and Firewire ports on the front of the case.
