Does it matter where I restore a Ghost image from?

If I make an image of my hard drive and put it on my 2nd hard drive and then burn the image onto a DVD, will that image load correctly from the DVD?

Well, a new wrinkle. The reason I posted was when I got a DVD drive (Pioneer DVR 109) I figured I would do some kind of backup beyond my regular file backup. When I got out the Ghost app, and selected to backup to DVD, it took me to the DOS screen and after saying some things were missing and trying to load an Oak driver, it just stalled. So I asked if a Ghost to my second harddrive and then burned to DVD would work.

Well, my C drive is 15GB more or less, so Ghost wrote it to 4 gho files of 2GB+, and a 5th file of about .4GB. I understand that it can span them when loading in an image, but I didn't think until I started to write them to DVD - doh, bigger than the DVD will hold.

So the new question is - would it work to write the first 2 to one DVD, and the last 3 to a second DVD? Would Ghost deal correctly with that? I could play with it and find out, but if someone knows in advance that it would not, it would help me

Thanks

All you need to do is make sure you can boot to the first DVD, and when Ghost needs the other *.GHS files (on your second DVD), just take out the first DVD, put in the second DVD and hit enter. It will find the file it needs on the second DVD and it will complete the image process. The only tricky part is to get the first DVD to boot and kick off the image process.

Interesting question. If one boots up to a ghost created dos floppy, can ghost be told to then find the files on several seperate dvd's or did ghost need to create a dvd boot disk?
I would like to move the HD images onto dvd for space reasons but only created a boot floppy disk.

Problem - and now I really need it. BOTH hard drives died in a matter of days, so I can't clone from the OS drive. And now I find I cant boot to Ghost and find the DVD drive. I must need to put the drivers for it on the Ghost boot disk? It's a Pioneer DVR-109 , just bought it a couple of weeks ago
