Does it make sense to virtualize a small business server?

The small business is running SBS 2011 Essentials. It mainly hosts company files, Quickbooks and Instar. The idea of virtualization has come up recently. It would reduce costs when the hardware upgrade cycle comes around. We could restore it quickly in case of a disaster (right?). But it might slow down the server some. Any thoughts?
