If I'm happy to be getting a new, corner office even though the person that currently has the office is getting canned? (He doesn't know that, but I do)

Only if you were friends, or if you were involved in some sort of subterfuge that led to him being fired.

You should start gradually moving yourself into his office while he's there. If he questions it, just chuckle.

We are friendly, he is sort of my indirect supervisor. I had nothing to do with him getting let go though.

No. It's business. Not personal.

As long as you have a clean conscience, buy him a beer at his going away (if he gets one) and move on.

Exactly, buy him a brew and wish him the best.

And make sure to rub it in about getting his office.
