Does it hurt the battery to leave it plugged in 24/7

My laptop is mainly set up at home on a desk. I use it as a desktop you could say. The thing is the battery is always in the notebook and the notebook is always plugged in. Will it hurt the battery? Should i take it out and just run on A.C. when i have it running for long periods of time.

I like having the battery in, in case power goes or something like that, but if it will kill it, i might remove it.

You wear the battery quicker always keeping it attached, but it is convenient. If you want to make your better last longer, discharge it down to 40%, and store it somewhere cool and dry.

My Thinkpad x22 and x60s do not recharge the battery until it gets to 96%.

Not sure how others work though.

It's >95% in Apple laptops. I'd say it depends on the battery software how much you stress it.
