Does it bother you when people say "axe" instead of "ask"?

it really bothers me. i'm listening to some sports radio right now and a caller called in and said "axe" instead of ask. i don't know why but it just really bothers me. it just sound extremely ignorant and the people saying it are obviously doing it on purpose.

people sounding ignorant on purpose i guess is the cool thing to do.

Yes, when I hear someone use it, I don't take anything else they say seriously.

My wife says "fixin' " a lot, I can't stand that. Never really hear anyone say "Axe" but it does annoy me on tv shows or interviews, etc.

I don't know how to go about asking this without it being racist, but...

Can someone explain to me why one particular demographic seems to do this far more often?

Do what? Make a joke then use the biggrin?

It drives me up a friggin wall if I'm engaged in discussions with someone who should know better. In fact theres a very real chance I'll correct you on it, thats how much it bothers me.
