Does it bother you when MS products call home?

Maybe this isn't something to be bothered by, but it leaves me feeling violated and alone, like I've installed a spycam.

I don't know why I don't trust big companies.

ZoneAlarm prevents that for me. I allow only one time shots during installations.

MS changed their number so now the phone rings - no carrier must do belly landing in water but water is high. The dreaded high water condition! Oh noahs!

I noticed the IntelliType software likes to randomly call out to home once in a great while.

Read the EULA before purchasing a product if you're so worried about your software "calling home". You're agreeing to and allowing your software to do so.

I purchase all my software so I am not bothered when an MS product calls home because most of the call home functionality is to my benefit. Ensuring drivers are up to date, security patches in place and that debug error codes get reported properly. Shrug.

I hope you're not suggesting that I didn't purchase my software.

You also said most, so how about the stuff that *isn't* for your benifit?

:) The "oh noahs!" was a clever pun.

As long as you are legal...who cares? Actually you have no idea what it's calling home for. It could all be beneficial...it could all not be. Who's to say. But as long as you are legit, it shouldn't matter.
